Rangers winger Glenn Middleton is close to sealing a move to St Mirren according to a recent report (Daily Record).

The winger had been on loan at Hibs earlier this season but his loan was cut short after a lack of minutes. It was suggested recently that the Buddies or Ross County were looking to snap him up from Rangers.

It looks set to be St  Mirren, with the report claiming a deal is almost there.

Wide option for St Mirren

Middleton made six appearances for Hibs earlier this season. The arrival of Jack Ross didn’t bring about any further game time and he was subsequently sent back to Rangers.

Further minutes at Ibrox don’t look likely this term so they’ll hope the Buddies can provide them. At 20-years-old, Middleton still represents brilliant potential after a breakthrough term last season.

Jim Goodwin already has the likes of Ilkay Durmus and Kyle Magennis to call on down the flanks. They have both played 20 and 21 games respectively this season though, so Middleton will push them for their regular starting berths if he joins.

If a deal is done very quickly, Middleton could make his Buddies debut against Broxburn Athletic in the Scottish Cup this weekend.
