Last week it was reported by the Scottish Sun that Motherwell were interested in signing either Michael Johnston or Lewis Morgan from Celtic on loan deals. That looks very unlikely now.
Greek publication SDNA claim that Morgan is wanted by Panathinaikos. It comes just recently after the Scottish Sun claimed they were after his Hoops teammate Johnston.

If this is the calibre of team interested, Motherwell have next to chance of getting either of them.
Recent events may even affect Johnston or Morgan’s loan placement
Motherwell played the Greek giants in the Champions League a few years back. The Well were convincingly beaten by their superior opponents.
The same will happen off the park if they even try and rival the Greeks for Johnston or Morgan.

It’s hard to argue that Fir Park is a better opportunity than Athens is. Sure they won’t experience European football at either, but I Prásini are a bigger club with superior resources.
If that’s the level of team interested in the Hoops duo, Motherwell have no chance. They’ll only be able to pay a small percentage of their contract fees whereas others will be able to pay much more.
Recent events even cloud doubt over this move. Given how badly Celtic have taken the David Turnbull situation, there may be bad blood between them and the Well now. They may not want to see the Well benefit in the SPFL thanks to their own players.

These two would be terrific signings for Motherwell. It now looks very unlikely that either of them will arrive at Fir Park this Summer.
