Speaking on the TalkLivi podcast, the 22-year-old has opened up on his decision to join Aston Villa and how his loan move to Livingston came about.

“Villa were in the Premier League at the time, and who doesn’t want to go to the Premier League,” said Sarkic. “That is my aim, to play in the Premier League. It’s a massive club.

“I was on holiday when I got the call that Livi were interested. As soon as my agent called me I said ‘yeah, lets do it.’ Playing Premiership in Scotland is a good opportunity for me so I said yes straight away.

“The competition is what I expected, it’s strong Scottish football with a lot of balls on top of you. I’ve really enjoyed it.”

Sarkic has had an interesting career path

It’s been an interesting journey that’s taken Sarkic to Livingston. After a spell in the Anderlecht academy, he joined Aston Villa in 2015.

He then had a loan spell at another big English club in Wigan before going down the leagues with loan spells at Stratford Town and Havant and Waterlooville.

Now he’s in Livingston, where Sarkic is enjoying his most consistent taste of regular senior football. His adopted club are currently in eighth with 13 points from 14 games.

From Sarkic’s point of view, he’ll just be hoping to keep racking up senior appearances in the SPFL.
