Scotland’s crucial Nations League play-off against Greece is now just nine days away and the squad has been confirmed.

Scotland face the Greeks across two legs on March 20 and 23, the first leg at home on the Thursday night before travelling for the second leg on the Sunday.

They are fighting to stay in Nations League A and defeat would mean relegation back into League B.

Steve Clarke has confirmed his squad this morning as he prepares to get them together next week after this weekend’s round of domestic matches are complete.

There has been plenty of talk around who would be called up with US-born goalkeeper Chris Brady and Ipswich Town striker George Hirst tipped for maiden picks.

While Kevin Nisbet’s Aberdeen form was said to have fired him into contention after another goal in the win over Queen’s Park at the weekend.

And Craig Gordon admitted the level of involvement he gets could factor into his thinking over his future with both Hearts and the national team.

Both of those and other hopefuls have now learned their fate.

Scotland squad talking points

The main takeaways from the squad announcement are first call-ups for teenagers James Wilson, of Hearts, and Motherwell’s Lennon Miller.

Clarke had previously explained why he had resisted the temptation to call Miller up but now must feel the midfielder is ready as he continues to shine for the Steelmen.

He is their star man at the age of 18 while Wilson, also 18, has brought another dimension to the Jambos frontline this season and has six goals, including one in Europe.

He is joined in the squad by club teammate Craig Gordon while Nisbet got the recall he was hoping for.

Former Motherwell right-back Max Johnston is in too and will be pushing for a start after impressing for Sturm Graz.
