Aberdeen face a true test of their mettle when the take on Celtic at Parkhead tomorrow.

The Dons have a 100 per cent record in all competitions, let alone just the league, and are joint top on points with the champions, giving hope to the potential for a top two finish for the first time since the Derek McInnes era.

Jimmy Thelin has ensured an exhilarating start to his Pittodrie reign but the one question that has been aimed at his side is that they haven’t been truly tested yet.

That will happen over the next month or so when they play both sides of the Old Firm as well as in-form Dundee United.

And it starts tomorrow with a top-of-the-table clash between the two unbeaten sides.

Rubezic insists a disciplined Aberdeen can achieve anything

Centre-back Rubezic has been a key performer for the Dons so far. And he is looking forward to the fight in Glasgow.

In terms of a title fight, he insists anything is possible. But in order to achieve that, he is urging his teammates to be disciplined.

He said: “We will see soon because after the international break we are visiting Celtic. It will be a great opportunity to measure ourselves and after 90 minutes of fighting, we will see what we are made of. We will try to do in that match from the start what we have been doing in the last period, which is why we share the first place with the club from Glasgow.

“You can play against Celtic, but you have to be disciplined to the highest limit. They must not be allowed any space, but neither should we be casual because they will punish us immediately, which comes from their experience in the Champions League. We are aware that they have been dominant for the last ten years, but we know that nothing is impossible.”

Aberdeen the only undefeated side in Europe

Celtic have lost a game in Europe this season but Aberdeen have won every single match they’ve played in every competition. That leaves them as the only side to have done so in Europe.

Rubezic added: “It seems incredible that we are the only undefeated ones on the continent.

“It means a lot that we are so successful because last season we finished in seventh place. This club deserves to fight for Europe every season. Now everyone looks at us with respect because in addition to seven triumphs in the championship, we also have six in the cup.”
