He wasn’t meant to be arriving until the summer- but Aberdeen have acted in the winter to snare Matty Kennedy from St Johnstone.
The Northern Irish winger joins the Pittodrie side on a three-and-a-half year deal. He’ll go straight into the Dons side that’ll take on St Mirren on Sunday afternoon. Initially signed on a pre-contract, Derek McInnes has acted now to secure the 25-year-old’s services.

Kennedy has played 21 times for Tommy Wright’s side this season, scoring five and assisting on five occasions too. In total, he made 62 Perth appearances, scoring 12 goals with seven assists.
McInnes has moved to bring in some creativity on his flanks. Handing Kennedy a lengthy contract until the summer of 2023 also shows just how highly McInnes rates the wideman.
RONALDO NEEDS TO STOP WHINING.
Kennedy’s former clubs include Everton, MK Dons, Portsmouth, Port Vale, Tranmere Rovers, Plymouth Argyle, Cardiff City and fellow Premiership sides in Hibs, Kilmarnock and now St Johnstone.

He’s been about but now Kennedy looks to have finally found a long-term home. Some Aberdeen fans have reacted to Kennedy’s arrival in the Granite City.

Right. Get Hedges on one wing. Kennedy in the other. Niall in behind Cosgrove. Play with pace and creativity. No excuses.
