Hearts and their fans were left with some serious thinking to do over Christmas after defeat to Hamilton has left them bottom.
Daniel Stendel’s Jambos side travelled to South Lanarkshire looking to give themselves breathing space. A win over Accies would keep them three points off bottom, but a defeat would leave them stranded in 12th by the same margin.
It was to be the latter that unfolded, much to the dismay of Hearts fans. After a dogged first half where they missed a couple of good opportunities, Hamilton punished them in the second.
Mickel Miller and Will Collar struck for Accies to all but give them the win. Oliver Bozanic’s late header gave Hearts hope but it wasn’t enough as they sunk to the Premiership’s basement.
A new low for the club, plenty have been left scratching their heads as to how Hearts have managed to find themselves in such a rut. A huge Edinburgh derby with Hibs awaits them on Boxing Day now.
