Wales have announced their squad for their upcoming international clashes and Aberdeen winger Ryan Hedges has been selected for the matches.

He has been named in the 26-man squad to take on Azerbaijan and Belarus next month. The Azerbaijan match is a Euro qualifier of importance for Ryan Giggs’ side as they are currently fourth in their group, six points off the top.

Hedges’ call-up highlights how well he has been doing for Aberdeen recently.

Hedges has been Derek McInnes best Aberdeen recruit this summer

Of all the players McInnes has brought to Pittodrie this summer, the Welshman has to be the pick of the bunch so far.

In the Europa League qualifiers especially, Hedges has looked particularly dangerous on the left flank. On his Dons league debut, he scored the winner in a thrilling 3-2 victory over Hearts.

His pace and dribbling qualities have been hard to deal with for most teams he has faced so far.

The next thing he has to do is add end product. Although his performances have been fairly impressive, he only has one goal and an assist to his name from nine matches.

Giggs has obviously been impressed with the way he is performing. After a frustrating campaign with Barnsley, where he only made five starts, the Welshman will be delighted to be back in the international setup.

His work so far with Aberdeen has been rewarded. Hedges will now look to add to his three Wales caps next month.
