The Scottish Championship is always full of talent that can make the step up to the Premiership.

Over the years there are plenty of examples but a brilliant one that from recently is Luke McCowan who starred for Ayr United and Dundee before being promoted with the latter and winning a move to Celtic.

Simon Murray is one of the leading scorers in the top flight having been at Queen’s Park in the second tier until two years ago.

Clubs will be looking at signings for next season and casting their nets far and wide around the globe, as well as looking at out-of-contract stars in the Premiership.

There are also Scottish played based in England who could be available on a free.

But clubs should also be looking towards the Championship with a number of the top stars in that division coming to the end of their deals.

Stephen Kelly

Already impressed in the top flight with Ross County and current club Livingston and proved himself more than capable of playing there. A key man in Livi’s promotion charge but if they don’t make it, surely a pick up for someone.

Calvin Miller

A leading star for title favourites Falkirk with six goals and nine assists this season. Likely to the be in the Premiership with the Bairns next season but if there is a collapse he will be on the radar of others.

Ethan Ross

As above, Ross is a similarly creative outlet for John McGlynn’s side on the other side. Once an Aberdeen prospect, could thrive on return to the Premiership having served his trade in the lower leagues.

Brad Spencer

Another Falkirk star who again will probably be playing in the top flight next season but deserves a mention. A driving force in the middle of the park and has chipped in with eight goals this season.

Arron Lyall

Released by Rangers last summer, the technically gifted midfielder was signed on a one-year deal with Morton and has impressed.

Adam Frizzell

Playing in a struggling Airdrie team but a very gifted footballer and was a big part of Rhys McCabe’s side when they were pushing up the right end of the table.

Connor McLennan

Previous Premiership experience with Aberdeen and St Johnstone and down south with Salford. Now a key man for Scott Brown and Ayr United.

Jamie Brandon

Former Hearts full-back is now operating in the middle of the park for Livingston and has developed into a leader.
