Your January 20 transfer window update delivered by Not The Old Firm. We have updates on Hearts and Dundee United – let’s hope things heat up later in the week!
One down, one to go for Dundee United
Dundee United were hoping to tie up two big signings ahead of tonight’s Dundee derby in the Scottish Cup.
So far they have one, after United confirmed the loan capture of Ruari Paton from Port Vale and Jim Goodwin outlined the qualities which persuaded him to make the swoop.
Ex-Manchester City starlet Lewis Fiorini is the other they were hoping to get in on time.
The talented midfielder is now at Stockport County after signing from City in a deal worth an initial £300,00 but potentially rising to £1million.
There has been no news on that one today with the clock ticking ahead of tonight’s cup clash.

Hearts latest
Hearts hope to tie up the signing of Michael Steinwender with the Austrian defender now in Edinburgh.
A fee has already been agreed with his side, Swedes IFK Varnamo, and it is not expected to be difficult for personal terms to be finalised.
The Jambos could have the centre-back available to face Kilmarnock this weekend but have to apply for a governing body endorsement and then a work permit.
Hearts remain in talks with wingers Islam Chesnokov and Kilmarnock’s Danny Armstrong.
And the Tynecastle club are expected to complete the signing of midfielder Aiden Haddow from Celtic.
The 19-year-old is to be released by the Scottish champions and the Jambos are ready to swoop in and make him part of their B team initially.
