Hibs are one of just a few clubs in the Scottish Premiership who are yet to make a signing this month.

The January transfer window is in full swing, but Hibs have only confirmed a number of outgoing deals as the clock ticks down to deadline day.

Jake Doyle-Hayes saw his contract terminated while Noah Kenneh was sent out on loan to Ross County for a second spell.

There’s also been movement with some of the younger stars at Easter Road – but fans are desperate for the club’s first incoming.

David Gray has continually promised both ins and outs and has recently stressed there is no panic in trying to get business over the line.

Could Hibs’ first addition of the January window be a Finland U19 midfielder who plies his trade with KuPS?

Hibs lodge transfer ‘bid’ for KuPS starlet Matias Siltanen

It is being reported by Swedish outlet FotbollDirekt that Hibs have made a bid for KuPS teenage sensation Matias Siltanen.

It was initially claimed that Premier League club Bournemouth made the transfer offer for the 17-year-old, but FotbollDirekt are clarifying that it has actually came from Easter Road.

Bournemouth and Hibs share a strategic partnership with each other through Bill Foley’s Black Knight Football Group and work together on areas such as recruitment.

Hibs have reportedly offered 10 million Swedish Krona for Siltanen, which is equal to around £735k. That is said to be the same amount lodged by Swedish outfit Djurgårdens IF, who are in fact said to be leading the chase for the youngster.

Who is KuPS sensation Matias Siltanen?

Born in 2007, Matias Siltanen is a central midfielder and has already played 43 times for the KuPS senior side despite being just 17.

He graduated from the Finnish club’s academy in 2023 and has been a regular starter ever since. He helped KuPS to the 2024 Veikkausliiga title and his performances have attracted interest.

The 2025 league season for Finland does not start until April but Siltanen did feature in four Europa Conference League qualifying matches in the summer, notching one assist.

In October, the Guardian named Siltanen in their list of world football’s top 60 most exciting young talents – just the third time for a Finnish player.

He won the Veikkausliiga Rookie of the Year award in 2024 so there is no wonder Hibs are reportedly trying to sign the kid this month.
