Your January 23 transfer window update from Not The Old Firm. There is news from Motherwell, Hibs and St Johnstone.

Motherwell sign keeper with striker to follow

Motherwell have completed the loan signing of Ellery Balcombe from Brentford, confirming our exclusive from last night.

The 25-year-old shotstopper spent the first part of the season on loan at St Mirren but they had sent him back after re-signing Zach Hemming.

The Steelmen needed to bolster their ranks with Aston Oxborough injured and Krisztian Hegyi recalled by West Ham. They are also poised to land striker Luke Armstrong on loan from Carlisle United.

Meanwhile, Stuart Kettlewell has spoken on interest in Lennon Miller.

The Well boss said: “It’s not the value of the bidding club, it’s the value of the club that own the player and have their registration, that’s the most important part of it.

“We’ve always had a plan not just for Lennon, but several other players that have been sold. We’re unified with that, as well, it’s not as if one or two of us are sitting there with a different thought process. We’re really comfortable in that situation.

“There are no issues with Lennon. The relationship between myself, Lennon, his family, his representative is a really good one, and we’re all on the same page with everything that’s going on.”

Double Hibs update

Hibs are making their move to sign Alasana Manneh, the Gambian international from Danish side OB.

The midfielder is out of contract in the summer but the Easter Road men want to bring him in this month.

Meanwhile, we revealed the Hibees had an interest in Tottenham youngster Tyrese Hall but that won’t be happening now with interest from the English Championship.

St Johnstone busy

There are plenty transfer comings and going at St Johnstone, too.

After Finnish superstar Roman Eremenko had his move scuppered by a work permit rejection, the Perth Saints are now going through the process for Latvian defender Daniels Balodis and Swedish midfielder Jonathan Svedberg.

Those should be more successful though after meeting the SFA’s criteria.

St Johnstone are also braced for interest in top scorer Benji Kimpioka, with clubs in Israel and Switzerland reportedly ready to pounce.

Uncertainty also surrounds the future of centre-back Jack Sanders after Not the Old Firm revealed interest from England.
