Lawrence Shankland Hearts transfer situation clarified after Turkish offer reports

Most would have expected Lawrence Shankland to have his pick of clubs when his Hearts contract runs out.

The way this season has panned out has ensured that will no longer be the case.

After smashing in over 50 goals across his first two seasons at Tynecastle, the 29-year-old has found the net just three times this season.

His performances in general have dropped off and he looks a player robbed of his confidence after those sizzling two campaigns.

Shankland received abuse from Hearts fans after missing a penalty against Copenhagen in the Conference League.

The Scotland star previously held talks with the club over a new deal but failed to accept the deal put on the table.

With his contract coming to and end, CEO Andrew McKinlay suggested the Jambos would be open to restarting discussions if the player came to them.

But that doesn’t appear to have happened and Shankland is free to talk to other clubs about a pre-contract, while he could be available for a cut-price fee this month.

Reports of a Shankland offer from Turkey

It had been claimed by reports in Turkey that second tier side Amedspor had launched an ambitious offer for Shankland.

The chance to progress his career abroad, after a season with Beerschot in Belgium before signing for Hearts, was apparently coming with a lucrative wage.

Amedspor were only promoted to the second tier last season but have big ambitions of becoming a force in the country.

They’ve also hit headlines for the wrong reasons after a knife was thrown at a Bursaspor player during a match, while the opposing players had to be escorted out in armed vehicles amid riots.

Hearts have had no offer for Shankland

However, Hearts Standard are now reporting the Gorgie club have received no such offer.

The report adds that no club has made contact with Hearts with interest in their team captain.

Shankland is currently injured and sits out this afternoon’s clash with Aberdeen after missing the last three games.

He has previously had reported interest from Rangers and clubs in England and Saudi Arabia.
