Calvin Ramsay is looking for a new club after Liverpool recalled the Scotland starlet from his loan at Wigan Athletic.

The 21-year-old made a dream move to Anfield in 2022 from Aberdeen that cost Liverpool an initial £4.2m that could eventually rise to over £6m.

But Ramsay has made just two first-team appearances for Liverpool and has had to make do with loan moves to play regular football.

He’s played for Preston North End and Bolton Wanderers before making a switch to Wigan Athletic in the summer.

Calvin Ramsay returns to Liverpool from Wigan Athletic loan

However, it hasn’t worked out for Ramsay at Shaun Maloney’s side and Liverpool have decided to recall the right-back after just eight appearances in EFL League One.

Wigan issued a statement on Friday confirming this, writing on their official website: “We can confirm that defender Calvin Ramsay has returned to Liverpool FC.

“The 21-year-old originally signed a season-long loan deal in the summer, but leaves the Brick Community Stadium after making 12 appearances in all competitions.

“We would like to thank Calvin for his efforts during his time with Latics and wish him all the best for the future.”

Could Ramsay return to the Scottish Premiership?

It is being reported that Liverpool are now searching for a new temporary home for Ramsay until the end of the season.

It means Ramsay is available for loan and it could put some Scottish Premiership clubs on red alert over a possible move for the youngster.

Ramsay shone for Aberdeen in the Premiership as a teenager as he made 39 appearances for the club, scoring once and assisting nine.
