When Hibs will make their first January transfer as David Gray estimates timeline

Hibs will not make any new signings at the beginning of the transfer window, boss David Gray has confirmed.

The Hibees will be in the market and it is expected, as revealed by Not The Old Firm at the beginning of December, that a goalkeeper, playmaker and striker will be targeted.

Of course, whether all three can be secured depends on the nature of the window with January notoriously a difficult month to conduct business.

Gray has said incomings will be made later on in January as opposed to in the next few days when the window opens.

Hibs boss Gray on January transfer window

As quoted in the Hibs Observer, Gray said: “I’d imagine it to be later on in the window (than Thursday), as again it’ll probably come down to what can be done, what the options are.

“Naturally, you’ll always have ins, you’ll always have outs. Some players are maybe not playing enough football or will look to try and seek opportunities elsewhere.

“And then you need to be proactive and ready for players showing, teams showing an interest in your players as well, so nothing can be done whilst the window’s closed.

“But the minute that opens you need to be ready for that. That’s the hard work that’s been constantly going on at the football club.”

Mykola Kukharevych & Rudi Molotnikov injury updates

Ahead of facing St Johnstone on January 2, Gray provided positive injury updates on striker Mykola Kukharevych and attacking midfielder Rudi Molotnikov.

The Hibs boss said: “Myko is getting there, he’s progressing well. We’ve got Rudi Molotnikov as well, getting very close to being back.

“Rudi is back training now, he should be available as of Monday.

“Myko, by the end of the week I expect to see him back involved as well, so he has to keep going, but that’s progressing nicely as well.”
