Scottish clubs will be casting their eyes over the free agent market over the coming months.
Premiership sides love a freebie due to many having stretched budgets and this is the sort of time they can start looking to next season and having a think about which players they’d like to target on a Bosman.
Excluding the Old Firm, there are 134 Premiership players out of contract in the summer of 2025.
But on top of that, there are 29 Scottish players based in England who are also in expiring deals and whom our clubs could look at.
Here, Not the Old Firm has picked out a best XI from the latter.

GK – Angus Gunn
The Norwich goalkeeper will look to steal the Scotland gloves back from Craig Gordon when back fit again. But he may also have to find a new club unless a new Canaries deal comes along.
RB – Liam Palmer
Eight caps for Scotland but been in the international wilderness for years. Still playing regularly for Sheffied Wednesday in the Championship.
CB – Grant Hanley
Still a first pick for Steve Clarke but not really getting a game at club level with Norwich.
CB – Dominic Hyam
The 28-year-old centre-back, who has one cap, has played 15 times for Blackburn this year and has plenty of experience in the Championship.
LB – Kal Naismith
Predominantly a centre half but can also play at full-back. Hasn’t been a regular for Bristol City this season.
CM – Tom Cairney
Has played a lot of games in the Premier League and Championship over the years. Now 33 and coming to the end of his Fulham deal.
CM – John Fleck
At the age of 33, Fleck is now playing his trade in League Two with Chesterfield. Yet to play in the league for them due to a shin injury but did recently get his debut in the EFL Trophy.
CM – Barry Bannan
The former Scotland international is a Sheffield Wednesday legend and is still turning out for them despite turning 34. Two goals and an assist for them this season.
RW – Callum Paterson
The former Hearts star was strongly linked with a return under previous boss Robbie Neilson, but ended up signing a Sheffield Wednesday extension.
LW – Jamie Walker
A favourite of the Bradford fans after scoring a fair few goals in his first three seasons with them. Just the one so far this campaign, along with three assists.
ST – Steven Fletcher
Signed on for Hollywood-backed Wrexham last season and remains with them following their promotion to League One.
