Elton Kabangu to Hearts transfer update as Neil Critchley speaks

Hearts are in desperate need of signings to go straight into their XI after their latest disastrous result.

The Jambos’ collapse at Ross County yesterday was yet another damning indictment on their current squad as they let a seemingly comfortable two-goal lead slip in stoppage time.

Hearts manager Neil Critchley blasted a penalty call from the referee but did also admit that his own team were at fault for the “crazy” late goals conceded.

It leaves them 11th in the Premiership after they blew their chance to overtake the Staggies.

A vast improvement is required as pressure builds on Critchley from the fan base, who have already made their feelings clear on chairwoman Ann Budge and the board.

Signings will be made in the January transfer window with forwards and centre-backs, at the very least, targeted.

Belgian forward Elton Kabangu emerged as a Hearts target and there has now been an update on that.

Elton Kabangu to Hearts transfer update

The Edinburgh Evening News is now reporting that Kabangu has verbally agreed terms to move to Tynecastle on loan until the end of the season.

Discussions between Hearts and Union Saint-Gilloise have almost reached a conclusion as the capital side look to have the 26-year-old in as quickly as possible when the window opens.

Kabangu was signed by Union, who are part-owned by prospective Jambos investor Tony Bloom and use the same Jamestown Analytics data tool, on the basis of his form at Willem II in the Dutch second tier.

But the move back to his Belgian homeland hasn’t quite worked out and he has one goal from 13 sub appearances this season.

He is keen to get more first-team football and USG are prepared to let him go out and do that.

Kabangu can play out wide or through the middle but it is believed Hearts intend to use him as a centre-forward.

What Neil Critchley has said about impending Hearts transfer

“We’re hopeful. We’re working extremely hard behind the scenes,” Critchley said.

“Over the next 48-72 hours, we’d hope to step forward with one player and hopefully we could get him in the building ASAP.”
