St Mirren have done well taking strikers from down south in recent years.
Toyosi Olusanya and Jonah Ayungah are perfect examples of frontmen plucked from relative obscurity by Stephen Robinson and coming up north to do a job.
And it looks like the Buddies have found the next one off the production line.
Saints were yesterday linked with Owen Oseni, who plays for Gateshead in the National League and has 12 goals in 24 apperances this season.
They were however said to be facing interest from clubs further up the food chain in England.
But Not the Old Firm can reveal St Mirren have won the race to sign the 21-year-old.

St Mirren to sign Owen Oseni ahead of Motherwell
Not the Old Firm understands St Mirren is the next destination for the player just months after he quit Derby County for Gateshead.
The Paisley side have beaten off competition from Mansfield Town and Bradford City, among other English clubs.
We can also reveal Premiership rivals Motherwell showed an interest but the goalscorer has plumped for the SMISA Stadium.
It is understood the deal is done and ready to be announced early in the January transfer window.
The Irishman started out at Waterford in his homeland before winning a move to Derby and featuring in their under-21s side.
A loan spell at National League North side Rushall Olympic brought eight goals in 15 appearances last season and the goals continued after he made the move up a division for this campaign.
Oseni has occasionally operated wide or behind the striker but is predominantly a centre-forward who knows where the net is.
St Mirren’s Toyosi Olusanya attracts interest
It comes as Buddies striker Toyosi Olusanya attracts interest from elsewhere, Not the Old Firm understands.
The 27-year-old has been a key man this season and has found the net six times in the Premiership, but that doesn’t tell the full story.
His pace, power and strength cause problems for opposition defences and some of his goals have been big ones.
Olusanya signed from Middesbrough in 2022 and had a short loan spell at Arbroath but established himself in the Saints team over the last two seasons.
His contract runs out at the end of this season and we have learned that teams are showing an interest.
In other transfer news, Hibs are showing a shock interest in Hearts goalkeeper Zander Clark, who is out of favour and is available on a pre-contract.
Hibees boss David Gray answered questions on links to the man from across the city as well as Rotherham’s Cameron Dawson.
While Hearts are closing in on Union Saint-Gilloise striker Elton Kabangu on a loan deal until the end of the season.
