An unbeaten run of 15 games, and 14 in the league, for Hibs and David Gray was never going to go unnoticed.

But it was still possibly a bit of a surprise to see Gray linked with the Swansea job since he’s only months into his first gig and was facing calls for the sack with the team bottom of the league early in the season.

Hibees fans desperate to see the Scottish Cup-winning club legend stay warned the English Championship side off and Gray had his own say on the links.

The Swans are still on the lookout for a new boss after sacking Luke Williams, with Alan Sheehan in temporary charge as they try to fight against the threat of relegation to League One.

And they will surely be keen to make an appointment soon with that danger hanging over them.

Hibs boss Gray not on Swansea’s radar

There is now an update which will please Hibs fans.

Not the Old Firm understands Gray is NOT in the running for the Swansea job and his name has never come up in internal discussions about the vacancy.

Despite those previous reports the 36-year-old, we understand, has never been an option for the job. Swansea are looking to narrow their search with the international break upon us but we have learned the Easter Road gaffer is not on their list.

The Hibs legend is only months into his managerial career and it hasn’t been all plan sailing for him, despite the remarkable form from December onwards.

Speaking ahead of the Scottish Cup tie against Celtic, he said: “Yeah, I am ambitious, but I think it’s just a funny game, isn’t it? You think back to this season on the whole and where we’ve been and the line of work we’re in.

“Speculation, people speculating about am I going to stay in a job at the start of the season. How quickly things change when you put a good run together and then there’s other people talking about your job in another way, in a positive way.

“So, listen, nothing changes from my point of view. I’m 100 percent focused on what I’m doing because I’ve got the hardest thing in the world to try and do at the weekend, which is to try and get a game plan to go to Celtic Park and win.

“That is all that’s on my mind at the minute. I’m fully committed to what I’m doing here – and I’m 100% behind what we’re trying to do here moving forward.

“We just need to keep winning games of football. That’s all I’m interested in at the minute and then if something then comes, whenever that does come, if it does come, if it doesn’t come, I’ve already demonstrated already this season how quickly it can turn the other way.”
