They thought they were getting the Swede on a free transfer but accounts have now shown they were forced into paying a training compensation fee.
They were also hit in the pocket after signing Bobby Dailly from Millwall the same summer.
Motherwell land Andrews
Motherwell have secured the signing of Kai Andrews, on loan from Coventry City.
Stuart Kettlewell said of his new man: “I would pitch Kai as an all-round midfield player. Good energy, good strength, good mobility and handles the ball well.
“I watched him against Scotland for Wales U19s. He really impressed me. I watched him against Lennon Miller and thought it was a really good contest between the two of them.”
St Mirren target two signings
St Mirren are targeting another two signings after bringing in striker Owen Oseni from Gateshead.
Stephen Robinson explained: We’ll move some people on and we’ll hopefully bring another two bodies in to strengthen the squad.
“Then you start the second half of the season with three games we believe we can get points and progress in the cup. Hopefully we’ll strengthen the squad again.”
Cowie’s delight
Ross County manager Don Cowie signed midfielder Nohan Kenneh on loan from Hibs and striker Kieran Phillips from Huddersfield in recent days.
He said: “I was really keen to get Nohan back. I was assistant manager to Malky Mackay when he was here the first time on loan from Hibs. He’s totally different to the other midfielders we have. He has a real physical presence in that area and he’s champing at the bit.
“He’s had no football at Hibs this season so he was really keen to come. Kieran has a different profile to the centre forwards we have had. He comes here on the back of a really good loan spell in America. He’s mobile and has pace in behind defences. He complements what we’ve got really well.
“He was someone we looked at in the summer but he was in America with Sacramento, so we had to be patient. We lose a body in the frontline with Alex Samuel getting a bad injury, so we’re delighted Kieran was available. He is really excited about playing in a new league and getting a platform to show everyone what he is capable of. He didn’t get that opportunity at Huddersfield but he will certainly get that here. He has real pace. It gives us a good balance in terms of the options we have.”
Meanwhile, out of favour Staggies striker Eamonn Brophy is a target for Championship title rivals Falkirk and Ayr.

Dundee are looking to bring ex-loanee Aaron Donnelly back from Nottingham Forest, this time on a permanent basis.
