Hibs are going to have a busy summer given the number of players set to leave the club.

As it stands, 10 Easter Road stars will be out of contract come the conclusion of the season, with a further four loan players on the way out.

One of those includes midfielder Nectar Triantis, who over the last few months has developed into a very effective No.6 for the Hibees.

David Gray said as much in December, just when Hibs started to pick up their form and move away from the bottom reaches of the Premiership table.

Triantis admits he’s loving life at Hibs – but he’s probably getting a little bit irritated now at how many times he’s getting asked about his future.

Nectar Triantis addresses Hibs future again

The 21-year-old Aussie is on loan from EFL Championship side Sunderland and is still remaining coy over where he will be playing next season.

Sunderland are aiming for Premier League promotion, which will likely be through the play-offs as they currently sit 4th, 11 points behind Sheffield United in 2nd.

And that’s where Triantis would love to play, hinting that if Sunderland are successful at Wembley in May, he’ll fight for minutes in the English top-flight next season.

Triantis said at a press conference in Australia: “My parent club is Sunderland but I’ve got a good soft place for Hibs because I’ve spent an extended time there on loan, now extending to 18 months overall.

“So I’ve had a good time with Hibs, and I just have to see in the summer what happens.

“That’s another goal of mine – to be in the Premier League, the best league in the world. I think that’s where all players aspire to be.

“So it’d be a great thing for me, personally to get promoted into the Premier League, and from there, I have to work as hard as I can to earn my spot in that team.”

Triantis dubbed the ‘Aussie Rodri’

Triantis is currently enjoying his first call-up to the senior Australia national team and is part of the squad for the country’s 2026 World Cup qualifier against China.

Socceroos fans have christened him the ‘Aussie Rodri’ as he is compared to Manchester City’s 2024 Ballon d’Or winner.

Triantis is a huge fan and admits it spurs him on as he looks to seal his first senior international cap having played four times for the Australia U23s.

He said: “It’s probably one of the best compliments you can get (being nicknamed the ‘Aussie Rodri’). So it’s good to hear and I can definitely feel the love. That love from the fans really pushes me on and helps me.

“I just have to keep my head down and working hard till I get that opportunity. You can’t let yourself down by having a weak mentality. So I just have to keep on pushing hard and waiting for my opportunity.”
