Kelle Roos Hibs transfer interest addressed after ‘approach’ reports

Hibs are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper in the January transfer window.

Not the Old Firm told you at the start of last month the Hibees’ were prioritising a new keeper as well as looking at strikers and attacking midfielders.

It came after Josef Bursik, a loan signing from Club Brugge, made a number of costly errors and lost his place as number one to Jordan Smith, another summer signing.

The Hibees were credited with a shock interest in Hearts’ Zander Clark but that would be for next season as he is available on a pre-contract. Rotherham’s Cameron Dawson could be a short-term option on a loan deal this month.

Manager David Gray was quizzed on those links and insisted he and his recruitment team have a long list of potential goalkeeping targets.

And it would seem there are further names on said list.

Hibs interest in Kelle Roos

Earlier this morning reports from down south suggested Hibs were interested in former Aberdeen shotstopper Kelle Roos.

Further than that, it was claimed the Easter Road men had made an ‘approach’ for the Dutchman, now at Italian Serie C side Triestina.

The 32-year-old has been a regular but it’s believed he has a relegation clause in his contract (transfermarkt) and his club are in danger of falling through the trapdoor.

Not the Old Firm understands Hibs and Gray DO hold a possible interest in Roos and have him on their list of potential targets.

However, that is as far as it goes at this stage and no official approach has been made.

Roos at Aberdeen

Roos spent two seasons at Aberdeen after leaving Derby County, from where he had a number of loans.

His first campaign was a success and he was statistically one of the top goalkeepers in the league. He also helped them finish third after a brilliant response to a poor start to the campaign for the team.

However, Roos was nowhere near as effective in his second season as the Dons were poor and finished seventh.

In the end, Aberdeen fans were not sorry to see the back of him.
