Sam Dalby is making waves at Dundee United with the most prolific season of his career.

The 25-year-old is the top scorer in the Scottish Premiership having taken to Tannadice like a duck to water following his loan move from Wrexham.

The winning goal against Dundee in last week’s big derby win was just the latest example of Dalby coming up with the goods in big moments for the Tangerines.

The Englishman is in the City of Discovery on a deal until the end of the season and Jim Goodwin has admitted he would love to keep him at United beyond that.

But Wrexham also have the possibility of recalling Dalby this month so Goodwin could face an anxious wait.

Wrexham boss on Dalby future

The Ryan Reynolds-backed League One side are performing well in this season and in with a solid chance of promotion to the Championship.

But none of their strikers are scoring regularly and the addition of a goalscorer is something that could really boost them for the run-in.

That could make recalling Dalby a real possibility as he proves he can find the net up in Scotland.

Red Dragons boss Phil Parkinson has addressed the situation, telling The Leader: “Sam is there for the season. There is the opportunity to call him back and we’re just going to weigh everything up.

“Be fair to Dundee United because they have been great for him and be fair to Sam as well.

“He’s a player we rate but we just felt it was time for him to go and be someone’s number nine. Sam needed that and what a great loan move it has been for him so far.

“He’s got real quality and it was great for us to watch the (Dundee) game and see him keep getting goals.”

Parkinson added: “Sam’s all-round game was always good. His hold-up play, his intelligence out of possession for the team and tactical awareness are good.

“He’s had some key moments for us but probably not as many as he would have liked, but that can be the life of the striker sometimes.

“Now his movement in the six-yard box has been brilliant, he’s got that scent for goals and I’m sure it will continue.”
