Three Aberdeen transfer updates as medical set, one exit confirmed and another could follow

Aberdeen are working to add a striker to their squad ahead of tonight’s transfer deadline.

Oday Dabbagh is the latest name at the top of the Dons’ list as they look to strike a loan deal with Belgian side Charleroi before the window shuts.

AC Milan’s Marko Lazetic was previously the man they appeared to want but he is currently at Serbian side Backa Topola. It would’ve required them agreeing to end that agreement in order for Lazetic to come to the north-east of Scotland, and it couldn’t be done.

Aberdeen hope to tie up a loan for Dabbagh to add some much-needed firepower to their ailing squad, but have already done deadline day business with the signing of defender Mats Knoester.

Knoester was a free agent after his Ferencvaros contract expired.

With just over three hours remaining, it was looking like it could be a nail-biting pursuit of the Palestinian.

Aberdeen close in on Dabbagh

However, Aberdeen fans can probably rest easy as it looks like they will get their attempts to sign Dabbagh over the line.

Sky Sports are now reporting that a loan with an option to buy has been agreed with Charleroi and the frontman will now undergo a medical before completing his move to Pittodrie.

Nottingham Forest want Aberdeen’s Lewis Carrol

Nottingham Forest are keen to sign Aberdeen’s highly-rated youngster Lewis Carrol, according to the Daily Record.

It’s claimed the Premier League side are long-term admirers of the Scotland youth international and have previously failed in attempts to take him south.

But it’s said they have returned with a fresh approach.

It would see the Dons rake in a six-figure fee for the defender, 16, who would become the latest Scottish youngster to head south to pursue a career.

Carrol was part of Aberdeen’s under-18s title winning team and signed a pro deal with the club last year.

Angus MacDonald leaves Dons

Meanwhile, Angus MacDonald has completed his expected Aberdeen exit.

The veteran centre-half hasn’t been a regular starter and with multiple defenders signing in this window has fallen further down the list.

Exeter City were said to be keen and the Scottish Premiership side have now confirmed his departure as he “pursues opportunities elsewhere.”

Manager Jimmy Thelin said: “Angus is at the point in his career where he needs to play regularly and at this moment in time his opportunities here are limited.

“His contributions, both on and off the pitch, during his time at Aberdeen have been significant, and he was a proud supporter and ambassador for AFC Community Trust where he became a role model for many youngsters who work with the Trust.

“We would like to wish Angus the best of luck with his future career and thank him for his effort and professionalism during his time here.”
