The January transfer window is edging ever closer and clubs in the Premiership will be preparing for business.

Of course, clubs are always keen to strengthen during the middle of the season if finances allow them to. But the window opens the possibility of players moving out of the league too.

We’ve looked at players who may leave Aberdeen this winter, as well as possible outgoings at Hearts and potential departures concerning Hibs.

But what about the rest of the Premiership, particularly players who are performing well this season and could be attracting interest from bigger clubs?

Not The Old Firm has picked out 10 Premiership stars who may leave the league in January.

Lawrence Shankland (Hearts)

If Hearts are offered money for Shankland, whose contract expires at the end of the current season, he could be allowed to leave.

However, he hasn’t been at his utmost best in front of goal, so clubs potentially interested may just wait to see how his form pans out.

Elie Youan (Hibs)

Hibs had the chance to sell Youan in January 2024 and in the summer but knocked back bids from Stoke City, FC Basel and an unnamed French side.

And they are now likely regretting those decisions with Youan out-of-sorts in Leith and clashing with fans in the defeat to St Mirren before the international break.

It wouldn’t be a surprise to see the Frenchman depart but will there be enough solid interest given his poor form of late?

Lennon Miller (Motherwell)

The Motherwell wonderkid has been one of the best Premiership players so far this season and there’s no doubt the 18-year-old has a massive future ahead of him.

Liverpool and Southampton have been linked with Miller in recent weeks, with Motherwell expected to demand at least £4m for their midfield starlet.

Jack MacKenzie (Aberdeen)

Out of contract in the summer, MacKenzie has been in sensational form for the Dons and talks are taking place over potentially securing his future at Pittodrie.

But a report surfaced in October claiming Preston North End, Stoke City and Sheffield United are all circling the marauding left-back – so will one of them chance their arm in January?

Benjamin Kimpioka (St Johnstone)

Since joining last winter, Kimpioka has been an integral player for St Johnstone with 15 goal contributions in 34 games overall for the club.

The 24-year-old is another Premiership player out of contract in May and it is believed the Saints are looking to tie him down on an extended deal.

Lyall Cameron (Dundee)

Dundee have their star midfielder until the summer of 2025 so they are in a position to negotiate in the event clubs come in for him in January.

Cameron was outstanding alongside Luke McCowan last season and while he may not have hit the same heights of late, he’s still a promising prospect at just 22.

Kenneth Vargas (Hearts)

There’s real confusion over where the Costa Rican striker’s heart lies at the moment. He gave an interview to ESPN recently which suggested he wanted to leave Hearts.

But he clarified via his Instagram account that his comments were being misinterpreted and said Tynecastle is his home.

Vargas revealed: “I still have a while left, until 2029, but from what I have been told there are clubs interested, there is a possibility that I could leave.”

Martin Boyle (Hibs)

Hibs hold an option to extend Martin Boyle’s current contract which expires in the summer. But will they decide to cash in on a player who is out of form and has admitted a desire to play in Australia one day?

Adama Sidibeh (St Johnstone)

Considering the 26-year-old only signed his first full professional contract with the Saints in February, Sidibeh has been very impressive.

He has formed a potent partnership witj Kimpioka and has 10 goal contributions in 29 overall appearances for the Perth Saints.

Swansea City and Derby County were linked with Sidibeh in the summer and it said the striker has a £500k release clause in his contract. Could that be triggered in January?
