Jimmy Thelin has already had to play down comparisons between Aberdeen signing Oday Dabbagh and club hero Bojan Miovski.

But the new Pittodrie striker has already started to win his place in the hearts of the Red Army by firing in a crucial winner against Kilmarnock.

Dabbagh was signed by the Dons late in the January window as they finally got the frontman they had been searching for all month having made moves to shore up the defence early in the window.

Thelin branded the Palestine forward ‘exceptional’ as he outlined the key characteristics he would bring to his team, which was out of form at the time.

But the Aberdeen boss later rejected comparisons to Miovski after just one cameo off the bench.

Appearing as a sub once again with the score at 0-0 against Killie, the 26-year-old struck in stoppage time to hand his side a second Premiership win in a row and leave their winless streak in the rear view mirror.

Dabbagh reacts to first Aberdeen goal

Dabbagh has already started doing what Thelin brought to Scotland for and he hasn’t even started a game yet.

He admits scoring in stoppage time for his first for Aberdeen was “crazy”.

But he was buzzing and is now looking for the team to keep building.

Speaking to the media after the match, he said: “I’m so happy to be a hero in this game.

“I hope to keep scoring more and more goals.

“Scoring was a really good feeling.

“It was my first home game and to score in the last minute was a really crazy feeling.

“I’m so happy.

“I have to build on this because it’s been a long time since I have had this feeling of a goal.

“I hope to keep working and pushing to score more and more goals.

“Personally I came here to help the team as much as I can and to score many goals.

“But most important for me is what we achieve as a team – to finish third and have a Euro place.”

Dabbagh answers Aberdeen transfer question

The hitman is on loan from Belgian side Charleroi initially until the end of the season, but Aberdeen secured an option to make that permanent.

The man himself isn’t thinking about that though, adding: “I’m just thinking about doing my job and to score many goals .

“And after I will see what happens.”
