Hearts have had a busy old January transfer window to date.
Clearly, in the lower reaches of the Premiership is not where the club wants to be so it was no surprise when they looked to strengthen this month.
A defensive injury crisis, with Stephen Kingsley and Frankie Kent out long-term allied with Kye Rowles heading to DC United, meant centre-half was a priority.
Jamie McCart was the first to come in a £70,000 deal from Rotherham and Austrian Michael Steinwender was more recent.
An impotent attack was an issue too and that has so far been addressed by the loan signing of Elton Kabangu from Union Saint-Gilloise.
There have been departures from Tynecastle too, with Daniel Oyegoke the most recent having signed for Hellas Verona in Serie A. He joins Rowles and Liam Boyce on the way out, with the Northern Irishman back in his homeland with Derry City.
Hearts have been known to be in talks with other players while there are current fringe men who could seek first-team football elsewhere.

Critchley in Hearts transfers update
That means there could be more activity, both in and out, from Tynecastle before Monday night’s deadline.
Hearts duo Barrie McKay and Yutaro Oda have been frozen out from matchday squads and could seek a new home, while there has also been interest in Jorge Grant.
The Edinburgh Evening News is reporting there has been interest in wing pair McKay and Oda but no concrete offers as yet. Manager Neil Critchley isn’t ruling anything out, especially after the Oyegoke one came out of the blue.
“I could say ‘no’, but after experiencing what’s just happened with Daniel [joining Hellas Verona], I’d have looked rather stupid,” he said.
“That was unexpected so I would be foolish to say ‘no’. One or two players have played less and haven’t been around the squad so I’m sure they will be looking at options themselves.
“We have got until Monday evening so I wouldn’t rule it out. Something could happen.”
Are Hearts looking to bring anyone else in?
After we first revealed talks with winger Islam Chesnokov, those discussions continued but progress seems to have slowed.
There have also been talks with Kilmarnock’s Danny Armstrong, but that could potentially be a pre-contract for the summer if anything does get done.
If the Jambos are to do anything in the way before Monday it will most likely be a winger with other targets also on their radar.
More cover at the back may also be sought with Oyegoke’s exit coming at the same time as Craig Halkett’s injury.
